The Oilers are facing the Maple Leafs tonight in Toronto. It is a classic all-Canadian matchup between two of the best teams the country has to offer in the best hockey market in the world. However, many Toronto residents will likely miss the game as they attend the Taylor Swift concert at Rogers Centre.
Oilers captain Connor McDavid even joked about the concert in his comments ahead of the game. Apparently, the team actually made some minor changes to their travel routine to beat the notorious Toronto traffic that will only be worse tonight with the concert.
The Oilers captain also joked about leaving the city ahead of the game saying that it is 'always fun to leave here' in his pre-game remarks.
Perhaps those travel changes helped the team stay fresh as they got off to a quick start tonight thanks to Adam Henrique. However, Leafs forward Bobby McMann would respond shortly, tying the game at 1.
The game is extra special for Toronto tonight as they celebrate Oliver Ekman-Larsson's 1000th career NHL game played. As such, if the Oilers do pull off the win, it would sting just a little bit more for Leafs fans, something the Oilers would relish in.
Stay tuned to see how the rest of the game plays out. It is an important one for both teams as the Leafs look to take 1st place in the Atlantic Division and the Oilers look to get into a playoff spot. Only one team can come away with the two points.
