Despite the Florida Panthers being the President Trophy winners this season, the Panthers are having trouble selling tickets, despite being as low as $50 a ticket compared to the sell out games between the Oilers and Flames where the cheapest seat is $460.
With all that being said, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports the Florida Panthers have made a personal request to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to move their two home games. The reason why is their games are scheduled on the same night as the NBA's Miami Heat.
The Panthers feel playing on a different night other than the Heat could help draw in more fans attention to the Panther games.
In the end, for whatever reason, the NHL and Gary Bettman didn't grant this request.
Reporter Jackson says he really doesn't understand why the NHL couldn't reverse the days of its two Eastern semifinals, to avoid this mess in attendance and atmosphere in Florida.
