This is something you don't hear everyday, but former NHL player said he's was "Threatened" by a former NHL coach. This comes from Steven Kampfer who now plays in the KHL. He recently shared that he and former NHL coach Bob Hartley were trash talking during a game between Ak Bars Kazan where Kampfer plays and the Avangard Omsk the team Hartley now coaches.
Kampfe revealed this happened when the teams were battling it out during the KHL playoffs. Kampfer shared in one of the games that Bob Hartley actually threatened to send someone from Avangard after him, but never explain why. There's always two sides to every story, but it is known that Hartley did have a hot streak. Hartley was never afraid to verbally engage with players.
Kampfer shared this about Hartley:
"Hartley yelled at Kirill Petrov, who was injured. I told him to stop yelling at our player, and when I pulled up to the bench, Bob said: 'You're not so tough, I've got guys on the bench who will go after you."
When asked by the media if that was true Hartley denied it. While Kampfer continues to claim it occurred.
Then I told the press about it after the game and Hartley called me a "liar." Although we have video evidence of what Bob actually said.
"I think it's a low act, I don't care if it's tactics or whatever. Telling a player that he will be hunted down is a low thing."
We will never know what was truly said between the two, if Hartley really did threaten Kampfer but this is definitely a story that will never be forgotten. Let's just hope this was just the heat of the moment incident if it did happen.
