Last month the NHL lost a deal with long time business partner Gatorade, and most recently ADIDAS has told the NHL they aren't going to renew their partnership with the NHL once their deal ends.

However, the NHL has been still bringing in record levels of revenue these past few seasons. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman loves to tell this at every opportunity possible.

The part Bettman leaves out though is, so do all the other major sport companies in North America like the NBA, NFL, and MLB. So the question is, how does the NHL do financially compared against the other major sports?

The answer is not good.

In fact the NHL had one of the worst media deals in the united States with NBC that brought in around $300 million dollars annually. Thats more than doubled when the NHL made a new contract with ESPN coming in at $625 million dollars annually.

Pretty impressive but unfortunately for the NHL it's no where near the other Leagues' deals they pulled off. Out of the Four major sports the NHL came in last place.

NFL $10 Billion
NBA $2.6 Billion
MLB $1.96 Billion
NHL $625 Million

It gets worse for the NHL Commissioner as it's been revealed that the NHL is now even falling behind the NCAA in the United States not a good sign at all.

Growth from the 2014/15 seasons to 2018/2019
NFL $11.09B to $15.26B Growth rate of 38%
NBA $4.8B to $8.8B Growth rate of 83%
MLB $7.86B to $10.37B Growth rate of 32%
NHL $3.98B to $4.4B Growth rate of 10%
