The news just bad to worse for Carolina Hurricanes fans. Last night the Carolina Hurricanes were in Denver to face the powerhouse Colorado Avalanche in a battle of two contenders.
During the game Hurricanes Goaltender Freddy Andersen went down to make a butterfly save but when he kick his left leg out he appeared to hurt his knee.
Andersen then fell to the ice and needed help from the trainers off the ice, Andersen obviously didn't return. Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour provided no update on Andersen's injury status after the game.
The injury happened in the third period of the game and this is a huge blow to the Carolina Hurricanes Stanley cup chances.
This was not a good night for the Hurricanes also losing Captain Jordan Staal, who took a body check Colorado Avalanche defenceman Cale Makar and left the game also.
To add insult to Injury the Colorado Avalanche would beat the Carolina Hurricanes 7-4 but clearly the teams minds were on Freddy Andersen, and Jordan Staal.
Freddy Andersen was having the best season of his career with a 35-13-3 this season and a 2.07 GAA and .926 SV%. He's played in 51 games this season.
