Insider Confirms the Future of Top Flames Defenseman
The Flames have been struggling as of late, with a poor performance in the regular season that lead to missing the playoffs. Now their struggles are continuing, as defenceman Noah Hanifin is reportedly not interested in re-signing with the team.
Hanifin's Not Interested
Hanifin's contract is set to expire after next season, and rumours have been circulating throughout the offseason that he would be traded prior to the start of training camp.
We now have confirmation from Frank Seravalli that Hanifin is definitely not re-signing with the Flames.
Frank also says Noah Hanifin is a non-starter and definitely not re-signing. #Flames #NHL #NHLTwitter
Bad News For Flames Fans
While it's been rumoured that Hanifin was on the trade block for some time now, this seals the deal that he wants out of Calgary. With an 8-team NTC, the market for the defenceman is small. However, the Flames should be able to get a nice return for him should they find a suitable trade partner.
Hanifin finished the year last year with 7 goals and 31 assists for 38 points. He recorded a plus 2.
