The Winnipeg Jets are currently going through a rough stretch and are 4-7-2 in their last 13 games. The Jets currently sit outside the last wild card spot and according to at least one source the Jets have had preliminary conversations about a coaching change.
Paul Maurice is in his 9th season as the Jets head coach. The Jets swept the Oilers last spring, but were then swept by the Canadiens in the second round. With the off season addition of Nate Schmidt there seemed to be a lot of hype around the Jets with some even anointing them the best team in Canada.
The Jets began the season 9-3-3 before their struggles began. This is a situation to continue to watch as their has been documented support for the coach by players on the Jets team, but missing the playoffs is not going to be accepted in Winnipeg this year without some form of repercussions.
Last season the Jets also added Pierre-Luc Dubois in a massive trade so the expectation is any failures will fall on the coach and not players this year.
