The St. Louis Blues were defeated by the Minnesota Wild last night in an 8-5 game that saw a moment of controversy. In the late 2nd period, Ryan Hartman scored a powerplay goal and made contact with Jordan Binnington, which triggered a violent reaction from the St. Louis goalie.

Binnington jumped up and hit Hartman with his blocker, prompting Marc-Andre Fleury to charge down the ice to confront him. Although the officials prevented Fleury from reaching Binnington, many were left wondering what had provoked the usually calm and collected Fleury.

After the game, Fleury explained that Binnington had intentionally hit him below the belt, leading some to speculate that Binnington could face disciplinary action for his actions. While it's acceptable for a goalie to defend themselves, intentionally striking another player is not. Some are suggesting that Binnington may finally face the consequences of his actions.

That one was pretty quick. One of the guys said (Binnington) hit them in the nuts, in the nutsack. Can I say nutsack? Then when I saw him throw another one at our guy, that was the time.

I'm not surprised. I've seen Jordan do a few things in his career, that's why I went. I made my decision pretty quick.

The League has since announced that Binnington will have a hearing for the play.
