Mark Stone is a veteran of 541 games in the NHL and is the first captain in Vegas Golden Knights history. After missing all but 37 games this past season due to injury, there was quite a bit of speculation if Mark Stone was considering retirement due to his injuries.
Without Stone in the lineup the Golden Knights suffered this year, missing the playoffs for the first time in team history. The Ottawa Senators draft pick is considered one of the best two-way wingers in the game and his absence left a hole in the lineup and leadership in the locker room.
The Vegas Golden Knights released an update today on the health of Mark Stone:
Mark Stone underwent a successful lumbar discectomy with Dr. Robert Watkins, IV at Cedars Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. He is expected to be ready to play for the regular season. 😃
After a disappointing finish, and a team that is well above the NHL salary cap, it will be interesting to see what kind of moves are made with this team this offseason. We already know they are getting their 3rd coach in 5 years.
