The NHLPA has officially filed an appeal on behalf of Jason Spezza of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Players Association issued the following statement:
This evening, the NHLPA filed an appeal on behalf of Jason Spezza regarding the NHL's decision to suspend him for 6 games.
Many believe Spezza never being suspended in his career should have been weighed more heavily when considering the suspension. Others believe that Nikita Kucherov's suspension for 1 game was a comparable for Spezza's actions.
We will continue to follow this situation as it develops.
