Nazem Kadri is currently having the best season of his career and it's not even close. Kadri has 59 points in 40 games and is only 2 points behind his career best 61 points he put up in 2016-2017 as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. This sudden burst in offensive production couldn't have come at a better time for Kadri. Kadri is currently in the final year of his 6-year deal that paid him a cap hit of $4,500,000

Kadri is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st after his deal expires. There have been rumors that the Avalanche would love to extend Kadri, but that might just not be in the budget. This week on an episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast Elliotte Friedman dropped a Friedman Bomb when he tossed out this gem:

«You know who's a Flyer if he's not signed? Kadri. He's a Flyer, but again he's got to be a free agent, we'll see where it is.»

If this happens to be the case you have to ask yourself, is this not a form of tampering? If an Insider like, Elliotte Friedman, has this sort of information you know that it came from a well placed source within the organization. While this doesn't directly impact the NHL's rules on tampering it appears to be another way that organizations have found to circumvent a rule put in place to help maintain competitive balance.

So should this sort of leak be considered a form of tampering by the NHL?
