Tonight Pittsburgh Penguins fans were irate at the opposing team for benching a former fan favorite Marc-Andre Fleury.
Wild Bench Fleury In A Stunning Decision
This morning the Minnesota Wild announced a decision that shocked the hockey world. The Wild benched goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury on the first night of a back-to-back against his former team the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Fleury is scheduled to play tomorrow against the Boston Bruins instead. This is a puzzling decision as this is likely one of the last opportunities Fleury will have to play against the Penguins in his career.
As a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, the Penguins fans made sure to let the decision-makers for the Wild know they were unhappy that Fleury was not starting.
Penguins Fans Berate Wild Head Coach
Shortly after the game began the Pittsburgh Penguins took a 1-0 lead. This further made Penguins fans furious that Fleury was on the bench. This led to thunderous chants of "We want Fleury" from the Penguins fans.
To this point, the Wild have not put in Fleury and trail 3-1 to the Penguins. With another game tomorrow Fleury likely won't get in the game. However, if the Penguins continue to pour it on and the chants keep coming we could see a few minutes of Fleury in Pittsburgh.
