Bear's final year in the WHL he scored 28 goals and 70 points in 67 games. He bounced between the AHL and NHL the next two seasons, before getting into two full seasons with the Oilers where he had a limited offensive role, but still scored a few points in those years.
Last offseason he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes for Warren Foegele, where he put up 5 goals and 14 points in 58 games.
This offseason the Hurricanes added Brent Burns and Dylan Coghlan to their defensive ranks which were already loaded the likes of Slavin, Pesce and Skjei, so there isn't much room left for young Ethan Bear.
Ethan Bear is a right shot defenceman and the Vancouver Canucks are very weak on the right side with Luke Schenn, Tyler Myers, and Tucker Poolman. The Canucks are rumoured to be interested in acquiring Bear's services to improve their depth, and he could have the opportunity to play in a larger role with the team than he has in Carolina.
As the Canucks continue to seek help on defence ahead of the regular season, a name on the radar is Carolina Hurricanes RD Ethan Bear.
