REPORT: Dubas' Final Public Appearance As GM Was A Direct Cause Of His Firing
Brendan Shanahan just spoke to the press and revealed what was the direct cause of Dubas' firing.
Shanahan Reveals The Direct Cause Of The Dubas Departure
Just now, Brendan Shanahan spoke to the press about the Kyle Dubas situation and he revealed the believed root cause of the departure.
In the conference Shanahan revealed this:
With Shanahan suggesting Dubas not talk to the media, it shows how he was worried talking to the media with the players would result in a negotiation shift and it did.
Many players spoke highly of Dubas and after this, Dubas realized he could probably ask for more money and gambled on himself.
With the new price Dubas was asking for being far too high for the Leafs to stomach, it resulted in him losing his job.
Kyle Dubas' Gamble Failed
Instead of the reported $4 million the Leafs were offering, Dubas was asking for $6-7 million after the press conference and it became too much of a gap for the Leafs to work with.
