The Edmonton Oilers are always a team that leaves us wanting more. They have the best player in the world, possibly all time on their roster in Connor McDavid, and one could argue that they have the second best player as well in Leon Draisaitl.

Year after year they are ontop of the scoring charts, but unfortunately the secondary scoring always leaves the Oilers hanging out to dry.

They are currently holding the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, but after going 5-5-0 in their last 10, they are dropping down the standings quickly.

A few weeks ago, they lost Evander Kane after needing to undergo surgery to fix a laceration on his wrist after Pat Maroon sliced it open with his skate, and since he has been gone the Oilers have seriously lacked in toughness.

Looking for cheap replacements for Kane has not been easy for the Oilers, but this insider believes there is someone who fits the bill.

The Oilers currently have all of their first round picks they could use as a trade chip and also a few young prospects as well.

And know who is looking for those exact assets? The Chicago Blackhawks.

In the offseason the Hawks signed former 1st round pick Max Domi to a one year deal worth $3million and the 27 year old has far out preformed his contract, by putting up 9 goals and 19 points in 25 games.

Domi brings the grit of his father, but has the skill to put up points as well, which could be a very valuable asset to the Oilers organization.

The Oilers don't currently have 3 million in cap space, but we do know that they've been trying to trade away Jesse Puljujärvi for some time now, who just happens to make the same amount.

Could we see a trade featuring these two? Puljujärvi could definitely use a fresh start somewhere else, and if he is in the Hawks organization he would get a lot more of a chance at top 6 minutes.

Insider Kevin Weekes had this to say:

«Well here's the thing, he has impressed them, it's been a nice fit for them in Chicago so far, There's some thought that either he's going to do an extension, or to your point, a contending team, a buyer, may want his services. Perhaps Edmonton.»
