We are just a month away from the start of the National Hockey League regular season and the Vegas Golden Knights are already in a tough spot to start the year.

A few weeks ago it was announced that Vegas' starting goaltender Robin Lehner will miss the entire season due to his hip surgery, and to make matters worse, they've been hit with another long term injury.

The Golden Knights announced that Nolan Patrick will be placed on Long-term injured reserve to start the year, and will miss a large portion of it.

Nolan Patrick was the projected first overall pick back in 2017, but fell to second with the New Jersey Devils electing to go with Nico Hischier instead.

Patrick has never played in a full season yet due to injuries, but produced 30+ point seasons in his first two years in the NHL.

After 4 years with the Flyers and missing the entire 2019-20 season with an injury, he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, in a three-way trade with the Predators that brought them Ryan Ellis. Luck definitely wasn't in the Flyers favour either though as Ellis missed all but 4 games last season and there is even rumours that his career could be over as well.

Nolan Patrick has had a problem with Migraines and has even missed significant time while playing in the WHL before being drafted. He has the talent to be a top 6 player in the National Hockey League but never has a chance to really get going due to his injury.

Here is the last injury that took place for Patrick when he was blindsided by Nathan MacKinnon:
