Over the last few decades, National Hockey League players have drastically changed the way they approach the game.

You hear older players talk about how they would spend their summers and treat their bodies, how training camp was meant to get you in shape, whereas today players are required by their contracts to show up to training camp already in shape.

Players nowadays have personal trainers, nutritionists, and many more people helping their day to day life to ensure that when it comes to it, their bodies will be ready to preform at the best of their ability.

One thing you used to hear a lot about was players who used to smoke cigarettes between periods. Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur for example apparently used to smoke like a chimney.

While with the way players treat there body these days, you'd think this would have been a thing of the past, but apparently that's not the case:

In a player interview conducted by Michael Russo which detailed what happens during NHL intermissions, players revealed that they still know «a good amount» of their colleagues that smoke during every intermission.

Russo stated that while it was much more common in the older eras, there are still several players that take smoke breaks between periods.

The players interviewed did not disclose who the smokers were.

Smoking is apparently a good stress reliever, which is good for players who are under a lot of stress, but knowing what smoke does to your lungs, it's surprising to hear that players are still doing this.
