The National Hockey League does everything in it's power to make our beautiful sport the best in the world. I strongly believe that every decision they make is to better the league and better the viewing experience for the fans.
Every year the NHL's revenue continues to increase, but sadly it hasn't been increasing at the same rate as the other major sports leagues and earlier this season it was reported that the NHL has fallen out of the ''Big 4'' when it comes to revenue.
Everyone knows, whether you like Basketball or not, that March is all about MARCH MADNESS. Whether you follow it or not, it's a highly talked about topic and it gets a lot of interest.
The recent Female basketball game between LSU & Iowa, had record breaking numbers that absolutely dominates the NHL:
𝟗.𝟗 𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐒 🤯 Record-breaking #NationalChampionship thriller between @LSUwbkb & @IowaWBB makes TV history:
🏆 Most-viewed #NCAAWBB game on record
🏆 Up 103% YOY
🏆 Peaked at 12.6M
🏆 Most-viewed college event ever on @ESPNPlus
These numbers are incredible, and you'd think that hockey would be putting up something similar, but as NHL Insider Frank Seravalli points out, the NHL isn't even close:
For context, this is 1.18 million more viewers than the highest rated Stanley Cup Final game in the U.S. since at least 1995.
