Well, here we are at the end of the year and the Flyers are in 26th in the NHL, which is only 3 spots higher than last season (29th).
The team realized that they did not have the players capable of winning this season, and despite this, former General Manger Chuck Fletcher didn't make a single trade deadline move. Thus ultimately leading to his firing and being replaced with Interim-General Manager Daniel Briere.
The team is in a bit of a limbo right now, not sure where to go with the future and with John Tortorella being signed for a few more seasons, Briere has included him in deciding which direction to steer the ship. The other night Tortorella passed the coaching reins to his assistant coach, while he watched the game from the stands with his General Manager.
it has now been announced that he will be doing that again tonight when the Flyers take on the St. Louis Blues:
Rocky Thompson will stand behind the @NHLFlyers bench tonight as acting Head Coach as they take on the @StLouisBlues, marking only a handful of times two First Nations coaches have faced off against each other in the #NHL.
