The hype of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft is huge as there are multiple possible franchise players available.
While everyone is talking about Connor Bedard as the first overall pick, there is another prospect who is considered to be just as good, and that is Russian player Matvei Michkov.
Michkov is considered to be ''the next Ovechkin'' and has shown on multiple levels that he can be an elite goal scorer.
While being selected in the NHL Entry Draft is one of the best moments for a hockey player, it's now going to be overshadowed by a tragedy that gas just struck his family.
Late yesterday, news began to come out that the prospects father was missing. Today the unfortunate news broke that Matvei's father, Andrey has now been found and reported as deceased.
The search for Andrey Michkov has been stopped. He was found dead. Hockey club "Sochi' brings sincere condolences to the family and friends of Andrey Vladislavovich Michkov. The club will provide the family of Matvey Michkov with all the necessary assistance.
On behalf of House of Hockey, we would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Michkov family.
