Last season when the Chicago Blackhawks announced they were entering a rebuild, I think I can speak for all of us hockey fans (besides Blackhawks fans), when I say we all got excited to see where Patrick Kane was going to move to.
Here we are almost a full year later since that announcement and it sounds like the trade is close to happening.
After the New York Rangers announced the trade for Vladimir Tarasenko just over a week ago, many figured the Rangers would be out now on Patrick Kane. But after Kane has been showing lately how dominant he can be in the NHL still lately, things have changed and the Rangers are back in play.
Larry Brooks of the New York Post wrote:
According to sources, the Rangers have signaled they will try to make it work if Kane who has yet to declare his intentions is willing to waive his no-move clause in order to come to New York. We are told interest has not waned in the least since the acquisition of Vladimir Tarasenko from St. Louis on Feb. 10.
That, and not an additional fourth-liner, is the game Drury is hunting.
Then today, ESPN's Emily Kaplan shared the following information:
Based on conversations I've had with sources around the league, the behind-the-scenes talks with the Rangers were more advanced than have been reported.
Personally I am not even a New York Rangers fan, but the thought of Panarin, Zibanejad, Tarasenko, Kreider and Patrick Kane all on the same team gets me very excited!
