When the Chicago Blackhawks new General Manager announced last season at the trade deadline that the Hawks would be going in a new direction and entering a rebuild, we all got very excited as it meant we were most likely going to see a blockbuster trade involving Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.

The offseason passed by and we are now a quarter of the way into the year and we are still waiting on those big trades to happen.

Both Toews and Kane have full no move clauses, so they get to choose where they want to go, if they want to go at all. There has been rumours that Patrick Kane may want to stick around Chicago and try to take a run at a few more of the franchise records, but he also wants to try and win another stanley cup before he retires and the 34 year old isn't getting any younger and the Hawks aren't going to be competitive for many years.

With that full no move clause, when he makes the decision if he wants to leave or not, he will decide where Kyle Davidson can make a trade. He is a free agent at the end of this season, so if taking a run at more Hawks records are his goal he can always sign back in the offseason as a free agent.

For awhile Patrick Kane has been linked to the New York Rangers as the best trade destination as the Rangers have a huge amount of assets they could use for trade, and Kane had amazing chemistry with Artremi Panarin during his time in Chicago.

But The Athletic's Scott Power reported that Kane also dropped another name that he would be interested in playing with again as well.

«I mean, obviously, it'd be fun to play with Panarin again, It'd be fun to play with Alex DeBrincat again.»

Debrincat was traded to the Ottawa Senators right before the 2022 NHL entry draft, and so far has had a pretty good season in Ottawa. The Senators have not done so well in the standings though, so seeing this trade to the Senators seems a little unlikely unless they feel they can make a run this season. But wouldn't that be incredible to see Patrick Kane in the Capital of Canada.
