-Axel Jonsson-Fjallby who was claimed by the Winnipeg Jets.
-Brett Leason who was claimed by the Anaheim Ducks.
Players claimed on waivers Oct 10, 2022:
Josh Mahura ANA -> FLA
Connor Ingram NSH -> ARI
Jarred Tinordi NYR -> CHI
Axel Jonsson-Fjallby WSH -> WPG
Brett Leason WSH -> ANA

Jonsson-Fjallby who plays a similar style to Carl Hagelin, was thought to be the teams next 4th line player who provides a lot of speed, great defensive play and can chip in on the scoresheet.
Brett Leason who stands at 6'5, was thought to be a future bottom 6 forward who could be a net front presence and has the ability to chip in 15-20 goals.
Both of these players were lost and the team chose to hang onto Alexei Protas, Joe Snively and Connor McMichael on team roster.
While these three are currently better than Leason and Jonsson-Fjallby, the tough decision was holding them over McMichael and Protas who were both exempt from waivers and could have went to Hershey without the risk of losing them.
Today the team announced their lineups and what is making fans very angry if their top player who is considered to be the future top line center Connor McMichael is skating as an extra:

So if the team was not going to play him, and just keep him on the team as an extra skater, why not send him to Hershey and not risk losing either Fjallby or Leason?
