Yesterday Rick Bowness lost his cool after some terrible officiating led to the St. Louis Blues winning the game in the dying seconds. It's fair to say Bowness was furious and after watching the clip rightfully so.
Bowness shared his thoughts post game about how things went down.
The NHL has been very forthcoming that they will not accept any criticism of their officials and today the NHL media account tweeted out the following.
Rick Bowness (@DallasStars) has been fined $25,000 for his actions on the bench following NHL Game No. 629 in St. Louis on Sunday, Jan. 9.
NEW YORK (Jan. 10, 2022) Dallas Stars head coach Rick Bowness has been fined $25,000 for his actions on the bench following NHL Game No. 629 in St. Louis on Sunday, Jan. 9, the National Hockey League announced today.
The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.
This is clearly another attempt for the NHL to censor any criticism of their officials. Sadly we've reached a point where the NHL won't allow the game to be called evenly or be criticized when the referees jobs are done poorly.
