This week Ryan Getzlaf did the right thing and took steps to protect Samuel Girard from an awkward collision with the boards by grabbing his jersey to protect him from a neck/head first collision.
This is the sort of behavior every coach and parent should encourage their children to observe and emulate. This also wasn't the first time Getzlaf engaged in such behavior.
Four years ago Getzlaf attempted to help Derek Stepan avoid injury after a dirty hit by Logan Shaw when a scrum ensued over Stepan.
Good on you Ryan.
