It's been about a month since Vitaly Kravtsov returned to Russia after refusing an assignment to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Kravtsov is currently playing for Chelyabinsk Traktor in the KHL and had one incredible debut as he had 2 goals and an assist in his first game of the season.
After not making the Rangers opening day squad the Rangers allowed Kravtsov and his agent to seek a trade of their own.
It now sounds like two teams have surfaced as the front runners for the former 9th overall picks services. Both the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators have had a terrible start to their seasons and now it sounds like both teams are looking for ways to kick start their teams and their offense.
At this time there are no reports of the reported ask for Kravtsov, but it could be beneficial for either Montreal or Ottawa to make a play for Kravtsov. Either team could recall Vitaly after the end of his KHL season if they were to acquire him, but the cost of acquiring might be prohibitive as neither team would like to give up many future assets that they're either beginning or working through their current rebuilds.
