Whether they suspend someone or not, people will always have an issue with their decision. Wont be long enough, it was too long, shouldn't have been a suspension at all etc.. It is a no win position for them, but they do their best to keep things fair.
A play happened last night where Nick Suzuki was coming across the blue line and caught Calgary flames center Nazem Kadri with a direct shoulder to the head that sent him to the ice.
Is this hit by Nick Suzuki on Nazem Kadri a suspendible offence or just a penalty? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/39jHthSfnl Tim and Friends (@timandfriends) December 13, 2022
Kadri apparently was definitely not happy with the hit:
Kadri was saying this hit from Suzuki better be 5 after he got back to his feet. pic.twitter.com/H9SK9bMzGJ— Scott Matla (@scottmatla) December 13, 2022
It does not look as though that Suzuki meant to intentionally target Kadri's head, but it definitely ended up being a blindside hit to the head.
Kadri was not aware of Suzuki, and Suzuki looked as though he did not intend to hit Kadri at all, but it was still a hit to the head.
Should this receive any supplementary discipline?
