It took some time but an NHL GM is finally speaking out about the COVID restrictions on the record and it's a former player that took the step. The Detroit Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman gave the following comments today:
«Nobody wants anyone to get violently ill,» Steve Yzerman said. «My perception is (our team) will do anything to get through this.»
Steve Yzerman even goes further and asks why players who are symptom free are even tested.
«I don't see it as a threat to their health at this point. I think you might take it a step further and question why are we even testing for guys that have no symptoms.»
Teams dealing with illness is nothing new in the NHL as teams have constantly battled colds, flus and even the mumps at one time.
Today the NFL announced they'll only be testing symptomatic players and players who are unvaccinated, could we see the NHL follow suit?
