This surprising player has appeared to overtake Brad Marchand as the most hated player in the NHL after his repeated actions this season.

Cousins Voted Most Hated Player in the NHL Dethroning Brad Marchand

For a long time, Brad Marchand earned his nickname of the rat among NHL players, as he was often voted the most hated player in the league for constantly skirting the line between instigator and dirty player. However, this year, a new king is in town.

According to a recent player poll published in The Athletic that asked "Who's the player in the league whose face you most want to punch?", Nick Cousins was voted most, bringing in a whopping 28% of answers, which is nearly a third of everyone who was polled.

This should go as no surprise this year after Cousins has had repeated offences and dirty plays that have often gone unpunished.

Cousins Embracing Role As Most Hated Player

Cousins may not even care that he is the most hated player in the NHL, either, as he seemingly has embraced the role of a rat. He recently commented on a social media post with the rat emojis, signifying his embrace of the hatred among his colleagues.

Nick Cousins is embracing his «rat» status 😅

As the second half of the season is set to get underway, we will see if any of Cousin's actions will catch up to him.

As seen on Hockey Feed - "Brad Marchand dethroned as the NHL's most hated player."
