Alot of people were in shock when the the Chicago Blackhawks traded the young Brandon Hagel. This included Blackhawks stars Johnathan Toews and Patrick Kane, who both voices their displeasure of the trade on social media.

However it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows for Hagel in Tampa Bay, as reports show the Tampa Bay Lightning are regretting the trade with Chicago.

The Lighting paid out big to acquire Hagel, giving up a first-round pick in 2023 and another in 2024, plus prospects Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk.

The Lightning were expecting Hagel to fit right in on the Lightning's roster but sometimes it takes players longer to find their spot on the team or in some cases the trades don't work.

Ian Kennedy of the Hockey News put Hagel at the top of his minus list of trades from this year's deadline:

«When it costs a team two first-round picks and a talented rookie (Taylor Raddysh) to acquire a player, in this case Hagel, you want results. Three goals in 13 games isn't a sparkling early return, especially coupled with no assists and the fact he's regularly playing around 13-minutes a night. Hagel provides cost security, but early returns are concerning.»
