The NHL's COVID rules already don't make sense, especially when you consider they're keeping asymptomatic players out of games for "safety" reasons. But it starting to seem that these COVID precautions might be putting other players in harms way.
Dominique Ducharme announced that despite requesting today's game be postponed he was told the following:
"The league knows what's happening with our team and they said, 'Play.' There was no argument about it, and we start at 1PM."
The Canadiens currently have 16 players in COVID protocol and have suffered multiple injuries over the past 2 games. The Canadiens are going into today's game with an almost entirely AHL squad but to make things worse they won't even be able to ice an entire lineup.
Dominique Ducharme confirmed the Habs game is on and that Brendan Gallagher not playing.
This means the Habs will play with 11 forwards and 5 dmen, 2 below an average roster size.
The protocols are getting to the point where teams are being forces to play with not only unqualified players, but too few players to ice a full team. It's time for the NHLPA to step in and protect their players.
