The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Alex Nylander from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Sam Lafferty.
Nylander, the former first round pick, has spent the entire season playing for the Blackhawks AHL affiliate the Rockford Ice Hogs where he has 12 points in 23 games. Nylander was selected 8th overall in 2016 by the Buffalo Sabres but has never found his game.
Lafferty was the Penguins 4th round pick in 2014 and has played 10 games for Pittsburgh this season and has 2 assists on the year.
This is a fresh start for both players who've struggled to find NHL playing time.
