The Ottawa Senators are in the midst of a COVID outbreak and it appears the NHL has all but decided that they're going to do everything possible to not cancel games.
The Senators currently have six players in COVID protocol (Austin Watson, Dylan Grambell, Nick Holden, Connor Brown, Victor Mete and newly added Josh Brown) and there's a chance it gets worse before it gets better.
Last night Ottawa lost to the Boston Bruins and the team is planning to have a regular skate tomorrow morning before their game against the LA Kings tomorrow. They've also announced all media availability will be conducted virtually until further notice.
I have no problem with the NHL's approach to the Sens situation, but if this is route the league chooses to take it should be the same for everyone and not just certain teams. Especially in a league that has a history of catering to certain franchise the way they catered to the Canucks last season.
Here's hoping the Sens gets healthy and the NHL outbreaks get under control so we don't risk missing out on NHLers at the Olympics.
