After a heartbreaking end to the playoffs with a loss to Tampa in game 7, there is already speculation surrounding different Leafs players.
Given how talented the team the Leafs have it was a disappointing end to the season and it has been reported that Leafs GM Kyle Dubas needs to have a
"summer of Kawhi."
This is of course a reference to when the Toronto Raptors traded for Kawhi Leonard and he lead them to an NBA championship.
Although basketball is much different from hockey where basketball players can be expected to play the whole game and it is rare for a NHL player to have more than 25 minutes of ice-time, the idea of a trade is tempting.
That said it is also reported that the Leafs will try to bring back defensemen Mike Giordano,
Rasmus Sandin, and
Timothy Liljegren to short-term deals.
All 3 players contributed as depth-players to bolster the Leafs defense core throughout the year.
