The Calgary Flames have played fantastic hockey as of late, and while many have contributed, the success must be laid at the feet of goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who is having a huge bounce back season.
Jacob Markstrom reportedly on the trade block
Given that the Flames have some big time UFA's that they are ready to trade, it comes as no surprise now that Jacob Markstrom is reportedly on the trade block too.
In 26 games this year, Markstrom has put together a 2.59 GAA and a .912 save percentage, and now teams around the league are looking to land the star net minder.
Two Eastern Conference teams interested
While we can make easy links to the likes of Toronto and Edmonton, Eklund of Hockey Buzz has now revealed that both New Jersey and Buffalo are interested in the veteran goaltender.
ALOT of rumors swirling at this hour that the Flames may be closing in on a deal that would move keeper Markstrom sooner than later... looking into this more, but at this point I have heard there is some interest with the Devils and Sabres....
Recent reports have revealed that Calgary GM Craig Conroy would need to be blown away to ask Markstrom to waive his NMC, and given the prospects for both of these teams, that might just happen, but for now it appears a move could happen at any time.
