The 2023 National Hockey League All-star game is being held in Sunrise Florida this year at FLA Live Arena. The event is supposed to feature the best players in the NHL to highlight the skill of the NHL, putting all their incredible talents on display for the world to see.
The purpose of having it in Florida this year was to try and highlight the success of the hockey market in Florida, but instead it looks like it highlighted the lack of interest in hockey in the sunshine state.
This season, the Florida Panthers have averaged around an 82% attendance rate, which is ranked 27th in the league.
During the skills competition last night, sadly there were large amounts of empty seats.
While on TV they tried to angle it so it looked like a full arena, but this photo shows how bad the attendance was:
It was apparently reported that during the event, fans were moved down to lower sections to make it look more full.
