Last night the New York Rangers hosted the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche, is what might just be a previous to the 2023 Stanely Cup finals.
It was an exciting game, which eventually ended with a 3-2 shootout win for the Avalanche and former Rangers goalie Alexandar Georgiev getting a win against his former team, out-battling his former teammate Igor Shesterkin.
The game was fast paced and high offence as between the two teams, there was 90 shots on goal.
There was one play though in the first period that caught people's attention and drove fans insane. While Alexis Lafreniere was battling for the puck infront of the net, he was called for a high sticking penalty on Cale Makar, which clearly from this video was his own teammate who high sticked him.

At the moment unless the call was a double-minor, it cannot be reviewed, so the call on the ice had to stand, but this is just proof that our game has some flaws and that we may need a rule change to prevent something like this.
Luckily for the Rangers, the Avalanche did not score on the Powerplay, but something like this could have drastic outcomes on a game.
