Jake Guentzel has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning
This morning major news has broken in the NHL as star forward Jake Guentzel has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This was a deal that has been in the works for days. The Lightning traded both Mikhail Sergachev and Tanner Jeannot to clear salary cap space.
Mikhail Sergachev is heading to Utah!
Now the Tampa Bay Lightning have used that salary cap space to trade for Jake Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes. In return the Hurricanes will get a 3rd round pick in the NHL Draft.

We have acquired forward Jake Guentzel from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will now get to work on an extension to keep Jake Guentzel in Tampa Bay. With free agency just over 24 hours away look for an extension to be signed soon.
