Krebs had a lot oh hype around him when he was first drafted 17th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights. Since then, he has had a decent career, appearing in 215 regular season games, but he has not been the type of player that was expected from him on draft day. He has just 20 career goals and 66 points. He had 4 goals and 17 points playing in a 4th line role with the Sabres last season.
The Sabres are reportedly after Flyers forward Joel Farabee according to Eklund of hockeybuzz.com. That being said, Farabee is a more established player, and he has shown much more offensive upside than Krebs ever has. Last season alone he scored 22 goals, more than Krebs has in his entire career. As such, the Sabres will have to add more assets in a deal that would involve both Krebs and Farabee.
In fact, they may have to add quite a bit more. One fan pointed out that a similar player was already traded this offseason. That would be former Stars forward Ty Dellandrea, who was traded to the Sharks for a 4th round draft pick. Dellandrea had just 2 goals, but mustered 9 points in 42 games last season for the Stars, outpacing Krebs' scoring rate.
Farabee is clearly worth much more than a fourth rounder, so perhaps the Sabres will add a high draft pick to secure the deal for Farabee. From the Flyers perspective though, Farabee is young enough to fit their timeline, so they could be reluctant to move him altogether. Only time will show what will really happen.
