Keith Pelley, President of MLSE, has made his first firing since taking over, and Maple Leafs' management has been warned.

MLSE has announced that Bill Manning, President of Toronto FC and the CFL's Toronto Argonauts, has been fired. This was the first major change made by MLSE's new President Keith Pelley, since he took over on April 1st. This was a major warning and red flag for Brendan Shanahan, who is the Leafs' President and Alternate Governor.

Keith Pelley, whose first job in working directly for a sport franchise was President of the Argos, is now directly in charge of them for the time being.

Pelley made one thing clear on the day he took over, that he does not have much patience when it comes to losing, and he wants a championship sooner, rather than later. This was a warning notice to Shanahan, as he enters his final year with the Leafs. The Leafs have only been able to win one playoff round while under Shanahan's control over the past nine years, and should the Leafs not make any deep runs next year, he will likely not have his contract renewed by Pelley.

"The ultimate responsibility is on me. The accountability is on me. Our playoff results have not been good enough. That's on me."

No doubt Shanahan knows how to win championships, as we've seen him do as a player in Detroit, however Toronto's "core 4" have not been yielding results for him over the last few years. Shanahan needs something to change ASAP, or else he will be the one changing teams next summer.
