The New York Islanders have completely turned their season around over the last few weeks, and after many believing their season was over, they now find themselves within striking distance of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
However, the overwhelming feeling is that this team simply isn't built to chase a Stanley Cup, and that may lead to the team moving some of its veterans, with the most intriguing name of all being Brock Nelson.
Throughout the season, he's been linked to several teams, and now, The Fourth Period has narrowed it down to seven teams that would be a fit for the 33-year-old pending free agent.
Those teams are the Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, and the Columbus Blue Jackets, all of whom need someone to fill their 2C role as they make a much more substantial push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
This season, Nelson has compiled 15 goals and 32 points over 52 games played, so while he's not quite the productive force that he once was, he can provide veteran experience and a two-way game for a team chasing a Stanley Cup.
Ultimately, it's more likely than not that the Islanders trade Brock Nelson, as he is a pending free agent who is unlikely to re-sign over the summer, and if they can get a solid future asset in return, this is an opportunity to move a solid veteran with plenty of contenders interested in his services which could spark a major bidding war.
