The Boston Bruins 2024/25 season has been full of ups and downs thus far, and with the team potentially on the verge of missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they've got some huge decisions to make.
With captain Brad Marchand a pending free agent, there has been some talk of potentially trading a longtime franchise icon, with The Athletic recently linking him to the Stanley Cup-contending Edmonton Oilers.

It's unclear at this point what a trade for Marchand would cost, as the topic has not been broached publicly for much of the season, but if the Oilers could somehow add a two-way power forward like Marchand, it would cement them as favorites in the Western Conference.
Thus far in 2024/25, Marchand has tallied 19 goals and 42 points in 53 games played, and while he's not the impactful offensive player that someone like David Pastrnak is, he plays all 200 feet and knows how to get under his opponents' skin, making him the perfect fit for a skilled team like the Oilers.
Only time will tell whether or not the Boston Bruins are open to moving Marchand ahead of the trade deadline, with the team currently sitting one point and two spots out of the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, and if they believe at any point before the March 7th deadline that they're out of the race, expect them to be big sellers, with Marchand likely to become available.
