The Buffalo Sabres held a team meeting after the lack of response to Stefan Noesen's dirty hit on Tage Thompson in a game against the New Jersey Devils.

Once again this season, despite the young core being more experienced and a coaching change, the Buffalo Sabres are at the bottom of their division with a 21-26-5 record.

However, on Sunday, the Buffalo Sabres managed to win a game against the New Jersey Devils, one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

Despite the win, the poor leadership in the team is still what is getting attention.

Indeed, Tage Thompson had to leave the game following a dirty hit from Stefan Noesen.

If you missed it, here's how it went down:

Noesen was ejected from the hit, and Lindy Ruff, the Sabres' head coach, confirmed that Thompson passed all the concussion tests after the game.

Here's what he said in an interview on TSN:

"Tage is good. Passed all the tests. That penalty was well-deserved. I know I had a couple of guys that wanted to go after him right away. And where we were at in the game, there was going to be a time to even the score."

What most people wondered about, was why the Sabres didn't do anything to respond after Noesen's hit.

In the video, we can clearly see that no one on the Sabres went after Noesen for the hit.

Fortunately, a team meeting was held to address the situation.

Lindy Ruff talked about it ahead of tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets
:

"We had some hard conversations. It's over. What we discussed will stay inside the room and we're moving on to try to win tonight."

The players echoed what Ruff said, saying many of them would've liked to be on the ice when the hit happened, and stated it wouldn't happen again:

"I think there's a lot of guys that wish they were on the ice when that happened. But we talked about it, we dealt with it and that won't happen again."

I guess we will see if things change on the ice soon enough.
