It has been revealed when free agency's biggest name will sign his next contract and how long it will be.
Kane's Agent Provides Huge Update
Future Hall Of Famer Patrick Kane's Agent, Pat Brisson, has spoken on the status of Kane's free agency progress and has made it perfectly clear that they are in no rush to get a deal done with any team and it may very well not be until the start of next season when a contract gets signed.
Since having hip surgery on June 1st, it was not expected for Kane to go sign with a team as soon as free agency began. He was labeled at a 4-6 month recovery timeline, but has since been ahead of schedule.
"There's no rush," Brisson said. "This is one I'm very comfortable with. I'm very calm. You could offer me a one-year deal or a two-year deal right now at $7 million or so. I don't even know if I want to entertain it, because it's not what he needs. We'll see, at the right time, how he feels, where he's at, and then we'll take it from there."
He added, "There's going to be plenty of teams doing good, plenty of teams doing bad. "There are going to be teams using [long-term injured reserve]. We'll pick where we want to go. I don't think too many teams will turn him down."
Kane Expected To Sign Cheap
It is expected that Kane will only sign a one-year deal at the league minimum of $775K while he is coming back from the surgery to not put a huge risk upon himself or the team he signs with.
Kane saw himself finding a new home at last season's trade deadline, as he was dealt to the New York Rangers by his beloved Chicago Blackhawks after spending the last 16 seasons in Chi-Town. It is reported to be highly unlikely that the Rangers do bring back Kane, so we may very well see Kane wearing a new jersey for the 2023-24 season.
