The details of the deal have not been fully released to the public at this time.
In fact, technically, we do not know for sure exactly where the team will move to.
However, it is a safe bet that they will find their new home in St. John's, the largest city in the province.
The capital city has a population of a little over 100,000 people, more than tripling the next largest town on the island.
St. John's has a well-established history as a hockey town as they have hosted several teams throughout the years.
Most recently, the city hosted the Newfoundland Growlers, the former ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sadly, the Growlers were dismantled in April of this year for failing to comply with ECHL bylaws.
According to the Hockey News reporter Jacob Titus, the town's newest team will be operated by Glenn Stanford, a man with plenty of experience running clubs in the remote part of the Atlantic coast.
To this point, he has mainly run ECHL and AHL clubs, all of which were based in St. John's.
Hopefully, the QMJHL club will prove to be financially feasible in the town, especially without competition from the ECHL or AHL.
If that is the case, they will likely remain in St. John's for the foreseeable future, once again giving residents a chance to enjoy a high level of their favorite sport.
