Reports confirm Arizona Coyotes players are livid about relocation
Since rumors of their plans to relocate the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City the NHL has faced a lot of backlash. Up to this point, the backlash mostly came from fans. However, today several players have made their voices heard.
Reports from several sources around the NHL are confirming that players within the Arizona Coyotes organization are not happy with the potential move to Salt Lake City. The first report on this came from NHL insider and reporter Sara Civian.
"Hearing some frustration and fear from NHL families across multiple teams about the abruptness of relocation reports, the prospect of moving families to SLC (Salt Lake City), and generally the way this has all gone down. Folks are not happy."
Sara Civian continued in a thread on X and said it is not all about the relocation itself. Players and their families are upset about how the process is being handled by all parties involved more than the end result.
This doesn't mean anyone hates the city or wouldn't move there. It's about how things are getting done.
This is an understandable frustration from the players that they are hearing all of the news essentially through social media. At least one of the parties involved whether it be the Coyotes ownership or the NHL should be communicating with the players.
Craig Morgan on PHNX says players aren't excited about moving to Salt Lake City. «I know that. They're not excited about it.» #Yotes
With the sale of the Coyotes coming the league and their owners are pushing hard to get the deal done. The owners according to reports will stand to make a 300 million dollars split between the 31 other clubs.
With such a big payday for the ownership groups look for this deal to be finalized for next season regardless of how players feel about it. Once the deal is done it will be interesting to see how much control the Coyotes players have over their future.
