The Boston Bruins enter the 2024/25 campaign as Stanley Cup hopefuls in a loaded Eastern Conference, but with the ongoing saga surrounding goaltender Jeremy Swayman, things could change. After failing to come to an agreement before training camp, things have gotten increasingly personal between the two parties in recent days, with the agent of Swayman refuting the Bruins claims that the team offered him $8 million per year on their last offer.
That has led to increased trade speculation surrounding the 25-year old, but one person that isn't worried about that is captain Brad Marchand, who recently addressed the entire situation in an interview.
Despite the speculation and the clear hard feelings between Swayman and the Bruins front office dating back to the 2023 off-season and arbitration, Marchand remains confident that a deal will get done. Even if it does however, the team head into the regular season with Joonas Korpisalo as the starting goaltender, a situation that no one expected after the team dominated a season ago behind the duo of Swayman and Linus Ullmark.
Only time will tell if the two teams can come to an agreement, because if they can't, it could mean a dramatic shift for the Bruins, and with just days before the regular season begins, the pressure is ramping up on both parties.
