For some time now, rumours have linked forward Jake DeBrusk to his home of Alberta in Canada, and now, it appears as though all signs are pointing to him leaving the Boston Bruins.
Where will Jake DeBrusk land this summer?
According to reports from Boston Hockey Now, all signs currently point to DeBrusk being a rental for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, whether that's in Boston or elsewhere as a result of a trade.
«Does he wind up back west as a playoff rental for a contender out there we've all heard the Oilers rumors or does he become a playoff rental for the Bruins,» an unnamed NHL source explained to Boston Hockey Now. «It sure doesn't seem like he's signing an extension if he signs one before the season's over.»
With a team like the Edmonton Oilers from DeBrusk's home of Alberta looking to make a Stanley Cup push, they're a team that make sense, but with free agency looming, they may simply look to land him in the summer.
When asked about his future with the Bruins, DeBrusk gave a classic answer that tells us nothing, with his focus seemingly set on the here and now, rather than the future.

Ultimately, many expect him to end up in either Calgary or Edmonton, but if the Bruins can make a run in 2023-24, he could change his mind, but for now, it appears DeBrusk will be one of the top names available this summer.
