Disaster scenario strikes as Canes lose Jesper Fast for the season
The Carolina Hurricanes will be without veteran presence Jesper Fast for the rest of the playoffs as he went down with an injury in the 82nd game of the year.
During the 82nd game of the year, the Carolina Hurricanes faced off against the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jesper Fast took this fall into the boards.
Rod Brind'Amour didn't have much of an update on Jesper Fast, who had to be helped off the ice during the second period tonight, post-game -
"That's the part that just makes you sick, to be honest with you. You're just trying to get through the game without having that."
Today, it was confirmed that Fast would be out for the rest of the playoffs.
During Carolina's pre-game show on Bally's, head coach Rod Brind'Amour indicated Jesper Fast appears to be out for the season.
He was more optimistic about the possibility of Brett Pesce returning. Fast has been a fixture on Carolina's third line for most of his time there alongside Jordan Staal and also contributes on their penalty kill. Without him, the Hurricanes will rely on others for more defensive play but nonetheless, this is a noticeable loss for the Hurricanes.
