Detroit Red Wings Upset Fans With Controversial Change To Their Jersey
The Detroit Red Wings have one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports. However, the team announced an upcoming change for the sweaters today.
Detroit Red Wings To Include Ads On Jerseys
The team announced today that they have entered an ad partnership and that ads will be coming to the team's jerseys shortly. There will be an announcement tomorrow revealing who the sponsorship is.
Red Wings Fans Call Out Team Ownership For Greedy Business Move
Fans of the team are obviously not happy about this. Given how iconic the Red Wings jersey is, most fans were hoping the team would avoid an ad partnership deal as an ad could ruin the aesthetics of the team.
Many fans called out Red Wings owner Chris Ilitch for the selfish move.
At this point, it seems inevitable that all NHL jerseys will have an ad on them at some point. If the Red Wings Jersey is not sacred enough to avoid the effects of money on the sport, than nothing is.
